Anaphylaxis Training in Newcastle

Course overview

Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that can develop within seconds or minutes of exposure to a trigger such as certain foods, insect stings, medicines or latex. When it happens, knowing what to do — and doing it quickly — can save a life. Our 2 hours Anaphylaxis Training course in Newcastle upon Tyne gives you the practical knowledge and hands-on confidence to act decisively in an emergency.

This is a focused, interactive session built around real-world response. You will learn to recognise the signs and symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, understand common triggers, and practise using adrenaline auto-injectors — including EpiPen and Jext trainer devices — so you leave confident with the technique. We also cover when and how to call 999 and how to care for someone until help arrives.

The course runs at Pottery Bank Community Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, or we can deliver it on site at your own premises for groups. On-site group sessions are from £395 for up to 15 learners. Every attendee receives a Skills Training Group certificate valid for 3 years.

What the course covers

  • Common triggers, including specific foods, insect stings, medicines, latex and other allergens
  • How to recognise the signs and symptoms of a severe allergic reaction

  • How adrenaline auto-injectors work and when to use them
  • Hands-on practice using EpiPen and Jext trainer (dummy) devices
  • Correct technique for administering an auto-injector safely
  • Effective response techniques to manage an anaphylactic emergency
  • When and how to call 999 and what information to give
  • Positioning and ongoing care while waiting for the emergency services
  • What to do if symptoms return after a first dose of adrenaline
  • How to support and reassure a casualty during a reaction

Assessment & certification

This is a practical, hands-on session. You will spend time practising the auto-injector technique on EpiPen and Jext trainer (dummy) devices, so you leave able to act with confidence rather than just having heard about it. The trainer assesses your technique on the day as part of the course.
